Today’s Family (various locations)

WELCOME TO TODAY’S FAMILY MARCH BREAK CAMP PROGRAM!

Today’s Family is a non-profit charitable agency servicing children and families in and around Hamilton, Halton and Haldimand Norfolk. We offer a wide range of early learning and child care programs as well as parental support programs to help you and your child every step of the way. It’s professional, caring support that makes a real difference in the, physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of children.

Today’s Family programs are built around the Emergent Curriculum, which means our activities are always driven by your child’s interests and passions. So, when it comes to trips to exciting new places, our job as a camp is to plan where to go. What actually happens after we get there, though, is up to your child. That means no fixed schedule, no counsellors making plans based on what they think your child will like; your child is king (or queen)!

Lynnwood Arts Centre

2022 March Break Program

March 14 – 18, 2022

This March Break, join us in our group art project centered around the collective and the individual experiences of our youth during the past two years.

Lynnwood’s March Break program will have two age categories: ages 7-9 and ages 10-12.  Both age groups will participate in a week of storytelling through art.

Participants will be exploring their experiences over the past two years, what their world is like now, and what they see for their future. Using various mixed media techniques, they will develop non-traditional quilt squares that will come together in a collective installation.

The quilt will be sewn together by volunteers in the community and be on display at Lynnwood Arts. In addition, the quilt is set to be featured in various businesses and organizations across the county as part of a travelling art piece.

Throughout the week, participants will also explore different media techniques and methods of self-representation through art. Themes will be centered around family, hobbies, memories, education, pets – the participants are only limited by their imagination!

Registration is limited to 30 participants.

The program runs March 14 – 18 from 9am – 4pm.

Fee is $225.00 (plus HST) per participant. Register HERE!

Nature’s Calling Environmental Education

The camp will run during the week of March Break – March 14th to 18th. Our location is the Norfolk Forest School (former Turkey Point Golf Club) at 76 Old Hill Road, Vittoria, an amazing area to explore, play and make new friends.

Each day starts with a gathering circle to introduce everyone. This is followed by activities that combine each day’s theme, along with plenty of games, crafts, exploration and free play. At the end of the day we gather again to talk about what our favourite part of the day was and say our goodbyes for another day.

Cost is $250/week/child. Children must be between 4 and 10 at time of the camp running.

Camps run from 9 am to 4 pm (no early drop-offs or late pick-ups).

Due to Covid-19 protocols campers must be registered for the full week. Maximum 30 children.

Children will not be required to wear masks. Camp counsellors must mask indoors. All regular Covid-19 hygiene and sanitation protocols will apply. All our camp counsellors are fully vaccinated.

March Break Movies

Going to the movie theatre is one of my favourite things to do and I’m so happy to be able to enjoy it again! The Strand locally might have some matinees but the website doesn’t show them yet. You can check back on their WEBSITE later. If you are up for the drive to Brantford or Hamilton you can find out the Cineplex Movie Lineup HERE.

White Horse Bowling

Whitehorse Bowling in Simcoe has 5 pin and 10 pin bowling, a small arcade, mini golf and NEW, an indoor playground! They sell snacks (the pizza is pretty good for the price) and drinks so no outside food allowed, though if there is a food allergy I’m sure they would work with you. We’ve taken the girls bowling and it’s even more fun with the gutter guards up - which was for the girls of course ;). You can find out more details by going to their FACEBOOK page.

Maple Sugar Bush Tours and Brunch

March 14 - 18

Touring the Sugar Bush is one of the most Canadian ways to enjoy the great outdoors and is an annual tradition for many families. Take a wagon ride to the sugar bush for a guided tour, learn about modern and historical methods of sap collection, and sample some pure maple taffy made fresh for you on-site in the snow (if there is snow!).

Warm up afterwards in the on-Farm Market with family and friends as you enjoy some piping hot pancakes, sausage and pure maple syrup. Richardson’s Farm and Market is a 6th generation working farm located in the heart of Haldimand County’s countryside.
