Happy June everyone! Otherwise known as “just a couple more weeks of school from home before freedom” to us parents ;)

It’s continued to be a busy time in the real estate part of our lives and we are grateful that you continue to choose us to be your “work family”.

The girls have been busy getting back to work (Sophie at the Catch and Grace at Knechtel’s Booth and The Beach House) and excited about the beautiful patio weather we’ve been having since Step One of the re-opening. This week we are returning to a limited outdoor softball practice schedule, yay! I’ll admit that when I drove past our local ball diamond at night with the lights on and players laughing, I shed a tear or two.

This past week has seen bridges and 3D paper cats built, theme dress up days for zoom meetings , projects and lessons wrapped up and the promise of a summer we can enjoy… we couldn’t be more grateful!

To all of you we hope for the same. Some time for relaxing and reconnecting in real life, warm summer days and nights, hugs, and moments spent in the company of friends and family <3

• We have very exciting news! This month we have a new Broker joining our Mummery & Co Team. We are so thrilled to introduce you to Janet Kazakevicius. Janet has over 34 years of real estate experience, a great love of community, and a winning smile! We are very excited and honoured that she chose us to be her work family. Welcome Aboard, Janet!

• We write a weekly blog (most Mondays!) about the Market in one way or another. It may be helpful tips, suggestions or experiences we’ve had as well as cold, hard numbers (stats). The one thing we promise is that you’ll at least pick up one thing you didn’t know before reading it. This month we take a look back at How to Be a Buyer in a Seller's Market. If you’re looking to buy a home it’s likely been a pretty frustrating year or two… prices have been making large increases at a time when supply is very low and competition high. We hope you know we’re feeling all the feels with you and there’s only so much you can do other than stick close and try to keep ready to jump quickly.

• Ever been inside a real life Tiny House? Like the kind we all see on HGTV? I hadn’t either until we had a client ask us to help them sell their little Home while they move on to a new adventure. If you’re interested in”seeing” for yourself, join us on Facebook LIVE this coming Saturday, June 19th at 11 am and check it out!

Here is where you will find our gold star list for the month. People and pets we love; books and quotes that touch and inspire us; television shows and movies we can’t stop watching; songs we won’t stop humming; clothing and accessories we own and covet; and all the other stuff we love and think maybe you just might love too. 

Sophie’s grade 9 English class is going (quickly!) through Romeo and Juliet this last week of online class and thank goodness we can rely on Leo’s 90’s heartthrob version. I haven’t seen it so long I may just rewatch it and relive some of my old glory days :) Haven’t seen it? Check out the Trailer!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! The Normandale Century Inn & Restaurant is under new ownership and we were pretty happy to hear they are serving Shaw’s Ice Cream. The ice cream shop is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 3:00pm-7:00pm. And if you have a sudden craving for a cold treat outside of open hours, these awesome owners say you can just ring the doorbell and if they’re home they will be happy to scoop some ice cream for you!

I (Abby) managed to sneak a visit to the Colborne Village Little Library where I was pleasantly surprised to find a copy of a current bestseller that was on my wish list! The Push by Ashley Audrain was a thrilling psychological page-turner and I finished it in one day. If you are looking for some reading material for your beach bag - I highly recommend this one!

With the warm weather here, what a great time to get outside and enjoy nature! And aren’t we lucky to have Bonnieheath Lavender Farm practically in our own backyards? This ten acre farm is rich in history and beauty…and you can enjoy it all while sipping on their signature wines and ciders in the sunshine.

If anyone is need of some more organization in their life (and honestly, who isnt’???) we love using the Cozi app. It keeps our family of six and all of their activities on track, and we were even able to add Abby’s comings and goings to the schedule. It is peace of mind to keep all of our appointments and tasks in one place so no one misses being where we need to be (and on time!)

We Communicate is a team of speech and literacy specialists and all of their services offer connection and collaboration with the rest of a child's team including, but not limited to, public speech-language pathologists (e.g., Lansdowne Children's Centre, school board), teachers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, doctors and dentists. This amazing company offers the Growing Confident Readers Scholarship. You can support with any dollar value. You could fund a therapy session ($105), an entire scholarship or anything in-between. Your support is life-changing, directly impacts the children in the community you live and work in, and helps children thrive. “Too many kids are being left behind without the tools to thrive in school and at life. At We Communicate, we support many children to become stronger, more confident readers and thrive to become whatever they want to be.”

Cabin 519 is OPEN!!! We have been eagerly awaiting walking into the this cozy little addition to our downtown core. It was so nice to get inside and have a look this weekend. We loved being able to physically shop and support our favourite local artists. They are now open daily for your local shopping needs. See you at the Cabin!

If you are looking for some fun activities to occupy the kids for an hour or so a couple of times per week, Port Dover Harbour has transformed their summer camps and are able to offer virtual summer programming this year with their Museum Summer Adventures 2021. Celebrate local history and local landscapes - Each week choose from two live virtual programs, taking place on Monday and Thursday, from 10 am to 11:30 am. Each camp will include a kit with supplies for the program. The cost per child is $15 per camp. Internet access required. Registration is open!

We recognize there are not a lot of events for us to safely enjoy happening right now. In the meantime, we do our best to scour all the local channels available to us to fill our our Events calendar to present you with a well-rounded list of options each month. Check it out and see if there is something there for you! (We encourage you to check in with the organizer of the event to ensure that the event is still running)
