Hello everyone and happy Fall 🎃 You’ll notice we missed our summer check in but my goodness there have been some changes in the Mummery world!

Let’s begin with our oldest, Grace. We moved her down to Wheeling University in West Virginia this August where she is studying Education with a focus in Secondary math and is doing very well in her classes. Just about as exciting is the softball team she’s a part of! They are playing some fall games and she’s so happy to be back on the field. If you can believe it, she was selected as Freshman Homecoming Court Representative at the Homecoming football game during Family Weekend (Princess as we call it lol)! So it’s easy to say that the first semester is off to an amazing start.

Our Sophie has ventured even further! This school year (her grade 12) she is in Sweden on a Rotary International exchange staying about a half hour outside Stockholm and attending high school there. We took her to the airport mid-August after a whirlwind of getting ready to go, though it felt like days instead of months. She has a couple of music classes, Swedish, history, an environment class, and math which is luckily in English 😉 . Sof has made some great friends, is doing some travelling, and has the most incredible first host family - they even had Canadian Thanksgiving for her… so lucky!

Maddie has found a new interest in Cadets and has become a trainee, on her way to Gunner, at the Simcoe Armoury. She’s working on her fitness testing, learning drills and marching form, as well as just beginning her training in target shooting (I’m sure there’s a better term for that) and is so proud. Of course you can still find her stocking shelves every week at our local No Frills too.

And last, but certainly not least, Audrey. We have to do it in order so we don’t forget anyone lol. Audrey is in grade 6, is still loving Girl Guides, and is in her third and final year before she moves up to Pathfinders. She is enjoying the leadership opportunities that it presents and is excited about Fall Camp Day. She’s also gone back to dance once a week in Dover and is having fun at Pom Cheer.

We somehow managed a week away with my Dad and Kathie (his partner, they are both in the photo) “home” to Nova Scotia this summer, which is where my parents are from, before the girls left on their own adventure. How lucky are we ❤️

Keith and I watched the RomCom Love at First Sight on Netflix because whether he admits it or not, other than watching baseball, RomComs are our jam ;). I made these Halloween cookies just last weekend and they are pretty delicious. Now this link provides for the store bought cookies you place on the pan but I did make my own chocolate chip cookie batter and then simply topped with the Pillsbury sugar cookies for a fun, festive treat. Kids will love them!

Port Dover Christmasfest 2023 is quickly approaching! Make plans to greet Santa and Mrs. Claus as they make a grand entrance at the Port Dover pier! Dating back to 1949, Santa Sale started at Port Dover Public School, moved with us to Doverwood and now has its home at Lakewood. You can find all the info you need to plan to attend here.
