These past few weeks we’ve had some pretty summer like weather for “Fall”, don’t you think?! Wearing shorts and sandals while you see Pumpkin Spice everything is so Ontario ;)

Back to school has been going really well for the girls thank goodness! Sophie is excited to be in her school band playing saxophone (tenor and baritone) and we hope for a concert in the near future. It’s definitely been a relief for them to be learning in class and their marks, and stress level, are much better. Maddie is now 5 weeks into her art semester and most recently created a balloon animal in marker - it was surprisingly accurate! We have a triple game Sunday for Grace with her new softball team this Sunday and though we’ll have to bundle up, it’s so amazing to be on the ball field in October :) Audrey looks forward to her Monday night theatre classes and loves Facebook Messenger. She especially loves to play games on her device while she video chats with her friends… oh to be 8 (almost 9) again!

As things continue to open and events start popping up in real life, we’ll share them with you on our website in our event calendar. If you have something you want us to add, reach out anytime.

We are so excited to be a part of LiveSmallTown Magazine! This magazine promotes unique experiences, places and people in small towns throughout Southwestern Ontario…and anyone who knows us, knows how much we LOVE local! You can pick up a copy in our Little Free Library outside the office or pop inside and grab one (and say hi too!)

Last year for Christmas, we purchased a Little Passports suitcase for Audrey. Such an awesome interactive gift for little learning minds full of globally-inspired activities related to geography, culture, science, & art to spark curiosity about the world we live in. Each month in the package she receives a book to read, a “coin” from the country and cool activities including recipes. Last month’s was from England and we made a delicious apple crumble that had shortbread as the topping… so yummy! Check them out, we highly recommend putting it on your holiday gift list.

If you are looking for a practical app to add to your phone check out Recycle Coach. It simplifies recycling by giving you reminders and insight into recycling tips. You can find your municipality in the app and see what services are offered in your area.

I recently introduced Melissa to Smash & Tess rompers and now she wants to throw away all her jeans and dress pants! These comfy and cute one piece wonders are designed and ethically produced. I’m not even going to tell you how many I own.

Remembrance Day is approaching and the Port Dover Lions have a Garden Poppy campaign this year with 100% of the proceeds going to the Legion’s Veterans Fund. They have just received another shipment of Lawn Poppies and they will be available Saturday at the Lions Silver Lake Market for $10 ea, or 3 for $25 (cash)

If you are looking for the perfect fall recipe…I have found it for you! One of my absolute favourite cookbooks (I use it weekly) is Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Table Volume 2. I found the cutest Youtube video to walk you through the BEST pumpkin cream cheese bread. Seriously, a 10/10 recipe!

Yes, Waterford Pumpkinfest is happening this year! This is a yearly event (that we all dearly missed last year!) hosted by the Waterford Lions & Lioness to celebrate our community and help raise funds for community projects. Check out all the events happening Oct.15-17 on their website.

Our friends at Cabin519 are hosting an event! Light Up Local is an outdoor community arts market happening October 23rd, 3pm-9pm. Come enjoy local artists & makers, live music, local food, wine, beer & cider.
