What better way to kick off the unofficial summer than with a Victoria Day long weekend with fog, rain, a little sun in the forecast and temperatures ranging from 8 - 30 degrees!

This weekend we’ll be on the diamond in Brantford for the official start to OUR summer - Grace’s D1 Nationals team playing in their first tournament. It’s the closest we get to home for the whole year so we are really looking forward to that ;) If you might like to stream their games live, find us on the Game Changer app on your phone or ipad - if you have trouble, text me!

Sophie is happy to be back to playing some local softball and is looking forward to wrapping up grade 10 with a Concert Band Trip to perform at Canada’s Wonderland next month. That was my favourite trip in high school - well that and the Phantom of the Opera trip to see the musical in Toronto when it opened… those were the days.

The end of grade 8 is near for Maddie and then she’s off to SCS to join her sisters in high school - eek!!! This summer she’s looking for a part time job and then all eyes ahead on a fresh start. She wants to take allll the courses lol so it was hard to choose her options but the tech courses are on the top of the list!

And not-so-little Miss Audrey (who is literally almost as tall as me) has caught a big bug. The Theatre bug that is! She is in love with the stage and had her first weekend of performances as Ms. Gloop in Willy Wonka with the Young Theatre Players (YTP). There are still some tickets available for the shows next weekend if you’re looking for something fun to do. You can go to their website to buy them.

Keith and I went to the opening night of the first show this season at the Lighthouse Theatre in Port Dover last night, Sugar Road. It was his FIRST play ever and we had such an amazing time! We are proud to be sponsors of this incredible, world class, theatre and we hope you have an opportunity to come this summer and watch something too. While we were so sad to see the Crepe House in Port Dover go, we are equally as excited to try The Mule which has moved into our little town! This Is Us. I daresay this just might be my most favourite television show of all time. The writing is absolute magic and I never finish an episode dry-eyed. SPOILER ALERT!!! This article summarizes this week’s episode beautifully. I am dreading next week’s series finale and it all being over :(

My latest find in our Little Free Library in front of our office is Mrs. Everything by Jennifer Weiner. This book was smart, thoughtful, and timely. It follows two sisters’ lives from the 1950s to the present as they struggle to find their places—and be true to themselves—in a rapidly evolving world: 10/10!

We were having a bit of trouble with the internet at our house…my son was screaming from upstairs that we were hogging all the service on the main floor. If you have teenagers who “game”, you feel my pain. We made a bit of an investment in a set of these Google Nest Wifi Routers and all I can say is: life-changing!!! Worth every single penny.

On June 2nd, join The Port Dover Harbour Museum for a screening of Scarborough. This film explores the struggles and resilience of this culturally diverse Toronto community through the lives of three kids growing up within a system that has set them up for failure. I have read the book and cannot wait to see the film ~ It is sure to make an indelible mark on your heart.
